Painting Graduate Wins National Emerging Artist Prize
Final-year student recognised for a series exploring archival photography and memory
A graduating student from the BA Painting programme has been awarded this year's National Emerging Artist Prize for a body of work that reworks family photographs into large-scale oil paintings. The judges praised the series for its 'quiet technical command and emotional restraint'.
The prize includes a solo exhibition at a leading contemporary gallery and a year-long studio bursary. Work from the series will feature in the upcoming Degree Show.
