Disintegral, Video Game
1/3
Disintegral explores questions surrounding the nature of fun through the design of a turn-based close quarters combat game. It is built around spatial positioning, interacting moves and constrained action points. Players can push enemies into one another or off the playing area, conserve action points for more powerful moves, and engage with both designed and procedurally generated maps. Its development therefore explores how a comparatively small set of rules can give rise to a large space of meaningful possibilities without relying on randomness, and how tactical choice, experimentation and mastery contribute to enjoyable play.
