The Reverse Side of Life

The Reverse Side of LifFilm | A film by Sustika Limbu | Date unconfirmed

The Reverse Side of Life is a film by Sustika Limbu introduced through a poetic account of longing, idealisation and emotional isolation. Its accompanying text describes a man whose attachment to a woman becomes inseparable from an image of her that he has created. As this figure recedes into myth, touch and intimacy persist as imagined experiences, while his own voice returns to him as an echo that no one else can hear.

This poetic framing suggests a reading of the work as an exploration of the distance between desire and reality. References to lost dreams, an inaccessible heaven and encroaching darkness evoke a search for connection that turns inward. Absence becomes an active emotional presence: the figure he longs for continues to shape his experience despite remaining beyond reach. The accompanying text raises questions about how imagined intimacy can offer refuge while also deepening a sense of separation.
