Eunju Hwang

Lecturer in Entrepreneurship in Media and Creative Industries

Dr Eunju Hwang is Lecturer in Entrepreneurship in Media and Creative Industries, Lecturer (Teaching) in Intercultural Communication, and also serve as the Departmental Enterprise Lead. She teaches "Digital Economy and Professional Practice: Media in the Real World I" and "Media Entrepreneurship: Media in the Real World III" within the BA Media programme. She also supervises MA Intercultural Communication dissertations. With over 20 years of academic experience, she has established as a multi-specialist across various disciplines, including business, law, and the cultural sectors. She also completed her Legal Practice Course. Her research interest is “power and politics in the cultural and creative industries”. 

In addition to her expertise in multiple fields, she has a strong understanding of different cultures, having worked in several countries, including the UK, Germany, Korea, and India.

Alongside her academic work, she provides legal help as a voluntary legal adviser. She completed the Legal Practice Course (LPC, a solicitor route).

She volunteered at Citizens Advice, providing legal help to individuals experiencing homelessness or those at risk of becoming homeless. Previously, she worked as a Pro Bono Legal Adviser, helping small and medium-sized enterprises, and she also managed two companies as the CEO. Currently, she is an external examiner in the School of East Asian Studies at the University of Sheffield.

She has a proven track record of securing external funding, including government grants from overseas. Before joining UCL, she established a research centre at Coventry University called the Korea Centre. She is dedicated to going the extra mile to achieve her goals and is committed to making a positive impact in her field. She welcomes research collaborations and academic-industry collaborations.
