What if we met at QuakeCon?
Two-channel simulation
What if we met at QuakeCon? follows two simulated gamers occupying separate, basement-like living spaces. Their behaviour is controlled by a utility-based AI system inspired by The Sims, producing repetitive cycles of eating, drinking, gaming and aimless movement.
The work examines isolation within networked culture through characters whose routines continually promise satisfaction without delivering meaningful connection. It extends MacKinnon’s investigation of the contradiction between digital togetherness and physical solitude.
