Omar Ceja Salgado
Hello! I am Omar Ceja, a researcher and Lecturer in Digital Media Education at University College London. I am based at the Knowledge Lab which is part of UCL’s Faculty of Education and Society and I work across two programmes in the department of Culture, Communication and Media: BA Media and MA Digital Media Education.
My research interests revolve around evidence-informed approaches for the design and implementation of technology to support teaching practices. I am particularly interested in the potential of emerging Educational Technologies such as Virtual and Augmented Reality to support learning through embodied engagement, interactivity (HMI) and uses of artificial intelligence (AI) to support learning.
My current research resides at the intersection between technology, digital media, and education and looks at the role that sensory states (e.g., presence, agency, and body ownership) and motor forms of interaction (i.e., hand gestures and body postures) can have in supporting learning in immersive virtual reality environments.
In addition to a PhD from University College London, I hold postgraduate degrees in Media, Culture and Education (MA) from the Institute of Education, University of London, and Education and Technology (MA) from Universidad Interamericana para el Desarrollo. I also have a background in in Hispanic Language and Literature with focus on communication studies and journalism from Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo.
